The youth justice system across England and Wales relies on complex information handovers between a dispersed community of private organisations, local authority and government partners.
A year ago, information-sharing was frequently disjointed, time-consuming, open to inaccuracies, and relied on insecure systems and little technology.
Traditional responses to ICT-enabled information-sharing represented too high a risk of failure for the youth justice system. The Wiring Up Youth Justice programme explored how complex information-sharing requirements across hundreds of organisations with individual networks could be best achieved.
The programme established a number of small projects loosely joined to maximise early results and minimise risks to the youth justice systems information-sharing goals.
