Wiring Up Youth Justice is an ICT programme that will improve how information is used and shared across the youth justice system. Access to information will be quicker, more reliable and more secure, allowing for more effective interventions for young people. Ultimately, Wiring Up Youth Justice will allow the sharing of information to be seamless, not only within the youth justice system but across the whole criminal justice and childrens services community.
Working with practitioners across the secure estate for children and young people, youth offending teams (YOTs) and within the YJB, the programme team has developed a range of initiatives around existing ICT systems and processes within the youth justice system. The programme is therefore driven by the needs of practitioners and the young people with whom they work.
Improving how we use and share information will also reduce the amount of inputting and re-keying of data carried out by practitioners. This will save valuable time that can be better spent elsewhere such as increased time with the children and young people in their charge.
This website is a guide to how the programme will achieve an integrated youth justice community that can share information in a seamless and timely manner.
